Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods is making it’s way to Japanese DVD and Blu-ray this September! Specifically, September 13, 2013. There will be a standard edition of the movie on DVD and Blu-ray as well as a limited edition that is being sold across all retailers in Japan. Then there is also a Amazon Japan exclusive Blu-ray limited edition copy of the movie!
The standard edition (being sold in stores on DVD and Blu-ray across Japan) is just the movie itself with a collection of trailers and design materials on a single DVD or Blu-ray disc enclosed in a case one would normally expect. It is then covered by a special slipcase. The official title of the movie is “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods”, but interestingly enough the slipcover adds the word “the” to the title.
The limited edition of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods (being sold in stores on DVD and Blu-ray across Japan) comes with a host of extra goodies in addition to the movie, trailers, and design materials collection found in the standard edition. First off there is a bonus disc that contains a recording studio report, a day 1 on-stage greeting (likely composed of the movie cast), and an interview collection! Then there is an assortment of physical goodies – a Super Saiyan God three-dimensional wall figure, a postcard set featuring the covers of all 18 Dragon Ball movies, and a special photograph booklet. All of these items are housed in black/gray Battle of Gods box featuring a render of Goku with Shenron in the background. The Blu-ray edition has a blue strip at the bottom with a few screenshots and some information. It is interesting to note, the DVD version says “The Battle of Gods” on the black/gray box, while the Blu-ray version just says “Battle of Gods”.
